C.L. “Chuck” Smith, Jr.

Chuck was born July 4, 1952 in Greensboro, North Carolina. At the age of five, he and his mother moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he completed grade school and high school.

Upon high school graduation in 1970 at age 17, Chuck joined the U.S. Marine Corps — at a time when many young Americans were dodging the draft or fleeing to Canada, Mexico and Europe because of the dangers and unpopularity of the Vietnam War. Chuck graduated from boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and served two years of active duty in the Marine infantry (1970 to 1972). Chuck says joining the Marines was one of the best decisions he ever made.  He states the Corps taught him the importance of discipline and leadership, how to work as a team, and the virtues of honor, courage, and commitment.

Following military service, Chuck attended North Carolina Central University for six years (1972-1978) where he obtained two degrees — a Bachelor of Science Degree in political science in 1975 and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree in law in 1978.

While attending law school, he also qualified for and completed the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General (JAG) student program.  In 1979 Chuck was commissioned a U.S. Navy legal officer, where he served for 26 years (active, inactive, and reserve service). During this 20-year naval career, he served as a prosecutor, defense counsel, administrative discharge officer, plus a prestigious assignment as a special assistant to a U.S. attorney.

After active duty, Chuck opened his own law office and began a legal career that has spanned more than 40 years.  Chuck is a licensed attorney in both Virginia and Iowa. From 2006 to 2008, Chuck served as the chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia Beach — the largest Republican Party city committee in Virginia.

Scott Thomas Parkinson

Scott Parkinson is a Christian, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and conservative Virginian. He has lived in Arlington with his wife and growing family since 2009.

Scott has 18 years’ experience taking on the swamp to advance the conservative movement, working for three United States Senators before serving as the Executive Director of the Republican Study Committee. In 2018, Scott was Representative Ron DeSantis’ Chief of Staff while DeSantis successfully won the Governor race in Florida. After serving as DeSantis’ deputy executive director of his Gubernatorial transition team in Tallahassee, Scott joined the Club for Growth as Vice President of Government Affairs, where he has advocated for economic freedom, opportunity, and liberty.

Scott believes it is time for new conservative leaders like him to step up and run for political office because too many career politicians like Tim Kaine and Joe Biden have failed the American People and are completely disconnected from economic and cultural reality.

Scott will be a warrior for the middle class, honing in on the fiscal insanity in Washington, championing economic growth policies, defending parental rights in education, and restoring public safety on our streets. Scott will fight for parents’ rights, veterans’ benefits against the bureaucracy, and senior citizens against Leftist radicals that want to end Medicare as we know it.

It’s time to step up and make a difference. And in 2024, Virginians will unite to defeat Kaine and Biden and allow for a new era of political leadership that’s focused on improving the lives of all people in all communities, ending inflation, stopping wokeism, and restoring our freedoms.

Scott resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Cortlynn, and their four children – Natalynn, Paislynn, Raelynn, and Prescott. The Parkinson Family attends Cherrydale Baptist in Arlington.
